Your admission time will be given to you over the phone by a member of the procedures booking team, it will also be confirmed in the admission letter that is sent out to you.
Your admission time is the time we need you to arrive at the hospital. There is no need for you to arrive any earlier than the time on the letter, so if you do you may have to wait in our reception area until a bed space becomes available.
We try our best to give as accurate an admission time as we can, which will allow time for a nurse to do your admission paperwork as well as your Consultant and Anaesthetist to meet with you prior to you going to theatre.
On occasion we may need to contact you the day before your procedure and change your admission time. This could be for a number of reasons such as you or someone else on the same surgical list may need to be moved to the start of the list due to medical complaints or allergies, or we are trying to work around bed or equipment issues. If this happens, we will do our best to keep it as close to the original time as possible.
Your admission time is not the time you will go to theatre, nor is it an indication of when that will happen. One of your nurses may be able to give you an estimated time for theatre when you are admitted.
